Albert "Al" Charley Vickers passed away on February 6, 2025 at the age of 97. A memorial service to honor Albert's life will be held at Marietta Funeral Home on February 15, 2025 at 2:00 pm.

Albert is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Iris.  He is survived by daughters, Renee Sofge (Bruce) and Rhoda Hendrix (Mark); granddaughter, Lauren Pilie (Philip); great-grandchildren, Parker, Iris, and Alexandra Pilie.

Al devoted his life to the service of the Lord.  He served overseas in Guam during WWII, and he loved to tell tales about his brief, but memorable, military time.  Al did not become a Christian until after the war ended.  He returned home to Florida, got saved, and went to Southeastern Bible College to become a preacher, and what a preacher he became!  His humble roots and years spent growing up as a non-christian in a "lively" family enabled him to connect with people from all walks of life for the duration of his pastoral career and beyond.

Al pastored for over 40 years, beginning in tiny churches scattered across the south, and eventually landing at Marietta First Assembly of God, where he led for 28 years.  He and Iris worked as a team, providing love and support to their congregation, along with many prayers and fresh vegetables from their garden.

Although he suffered with dementia in his final years, Al's servant heart continued to shine.  Despite not even knowing what year it was, Al still said the best blessings in that deep preacher voice he had and would frequently pray for meals and for others that were with him in memory care.  The world was a better place because of Albert Vickers.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 15 at Marietta Funeral Home, prior to the service.
