It is with great sadness we announce Anthony Brian Smith of Marietta, Georgia passed away peacefully Thursday, February 20th, 2025.  He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Charlie and Betty Jean Smith also from Marietta.  He is survived by sons Danny Smith and Matthew Smith, daughter-in-law Jennifer Smith; grandchildren Annabelle, Logan, Brady, and Everly; siblings Cheryl Lassiter (Stan Lassiter), Charles "Mike" Smith and Tracy Wilson (Kevin Wilson).

Raised in Marietta, Brian graduated Marietta High School in 1976 where he forged relationships that would last for decades working with and eventually co-owning his father's and uncle's Gulf Service and Gas Station on Fairground Street with his cousin Riley Smith.

He was employed by Kennestone Hospital as a security guard and subsequently enjoyed employment as a delivery van driver throughout the eastern U.S.  He loved adventure and seeing the country and shared all the new places he saw with family and friends often.

Brian, also known as Bubba, loved life, had an easygoing personality and had a unique way of connecting with people. Brian was known for always having a new joke or entertaining story at hand.

When he was not enjoying the sounds of nature from his back porch, he would often play chess or spend time with family and friends.  He loved the outdoors and spent many nights camping at Red Top Mountain, and fishing or skiing at Allatoona Lake.  He enjoyed getting to know people and would provide a helping hand to anyone who needed one, if he were able.

With a deep Christian faith, Brian was a member of the Macland Baptist Church and formed a church family there that was deeply meaningful to him. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Brian's memory may be directed to Macland Baptist Church, 3732 Macland Road, Powder Springs, Georgia 30127. The righteous will receive their reward and will dwell forever in Heaven with the Lord.

There will be a celebration of life Saturday, March 8th from 2:00pm until 4:00pm at the Marietta Funeral Home at 915 Piedmont Road, Marietta, GA 30066 and condolences may be sent to www.mariettafuneralhome.org. At Brian's request, the family will scatter his ashes in a private ceremony.
