Audrey
Norman
Apr 19, 1933 — Dec 10, 2023
Audrey Norman, 90, of Marietta, passed into the arms of Jesus on December 10, 2023.
Audrey Norman was born in Freetown, Indiana on April 19, 1933. She married her beloved husband, Charles Norman, on a snowy December day in Indiana. They raised two children, Jill A. Hawes and Tom Norman. The family moved to Marietta, Georgia in 1972. During her life, Audrey could be found in many places. She loved to cook for her family, and was known for her chicken & dumplings, eggplant parmesan, and delicious desserts. She would often cook for neighbors who needed encouragement and deliver the food to them. Along with her responsibilities as a mom, wife, and friend, Audrey was also the secretary of Christopher & Hayes Realty. She could be found there not only serving the real estate agents, but also visiting and being a listening friend.
After her retirement, Audrey decided to pursue other interests. For six years, she was the Reading Queen at Addison Elementary where she read with first graders to help them become proficient readers. Audrey loved Jesus and was a longtime member of Noonday Baptist Church in Marietta, where she served in many roles. She started a Rummikub group at Noonday that met every week. She brought lunch to the members of the group, shared a devotional, and then taught them how to play the game. Audrey also participated in the Hope for the Hungry Ministry at Noonday. She played Canasta every week at the East Cobb Senior Center and then eventually joined an in-home Canasta group. Once a week, she met with a friend in her home for a Bible study. Mrs. Audrey was indeed a busy woman, one that will be greatly missed!
Audrey's parents, Mancil and Anne Mae Soladine, her husband, Charles Norman, two brothers, William "Sonny" Soladine and Jerry Soladine, and one sister, Joann Leslie, preceded her in death. She has two surviving sisters, Patty Stout and Brenda O'Sullivan (Larry). She is survived by two grown children, Jill Hawes (Bob) and Tom Norman (Kathy). She has eight grandchildren, Michelle Barker (Joel), Mary Girton (Lance), Ryan Norman (Reuben), Katrina Hannigan, Caitlin O'Neill (Lloyd), Carros Norman, Jake Schmid and Austin Schmid. She has seven great grandchildren, Samantha Barker, Sarah Barker, Josiah Norman, Noah Norman, Grayson Girton, LilyAnn Audrey Girton and Talan Norman. Audrey is also survived by countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 11:00AM in the chapel of Marietta Funeral Home. The family will receive friends and visitors for one hour prior to the service.
