Obituary

Barbara Jean Hightower passed away at her home January 9 th , 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Barbara was born in Bartow County on January 21, 1939, to Pearl Lanham Tatum and Clifford Tatum.  She was raised in Cartersville, GA and attended Cartersville High School where she was a band member and majorette.  She graduated in the Class of 1956.

Barbara was employed by Lockheed Martin GA for a brief period before marrying and starting her family.

She is survived in death by Robert Edward Hightower, Jr. "Bobby "also known as "Red" her husband of 66 years. More than anything Barbara loved her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren.  She was a homemaker, loving wife, and mother. Her hobbies included reading, and her enjoyment of history, especially southern history. She was a great southern cook as she learned at a very early age.

Barbara is survived by her children Vicki (Gary) Dodge, Woodstock GA.  Donna (Don) Blume, Acworth GA.  Robert (Deedee) Hightower, Atlanta GA.  She is also survived by five grandchildren, Jennifer Campbell, Jake (Cady) Dodge Jessica Dodge, Dayna (Brad) Rosenquist, Danelle (Brendon) Banes. Also, 13 great grandchildren. Finally, Barbara is survived by two brothers Larry Tatum, Woodstock GA and John Tatum, Pensacola Florida.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Pearl and Clifford Tatum, Cartersville, GA. She was also preceded in death by her grandson Johnny Ray Dodge (Jenny).

There will be no viewing or funeral service. A Private burial will be held at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton GA.
