Barbara passed away on October 4, 2026, leaving behind a life marked by faith, devotion, and service. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Pope Sr.; her son, Robert Preston Pope; and her brother, Richard H. Worrell. She is survived by her son, William R. Pope, Jr. (Mary); her sister, Vana Christine Kinchen; her sister‑in‑law, Rachel Worrell; and her 5 grandchildren: Rachel Pope (Johnny Alfano), Ryan Pope (Leyna), Rebecca McAleer (Will), Haley Merbach (Eric), and Lillie Fabell (Patrick) and 5 great-grandchildren. 

Barbara was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and actively participated in her church community throughout her life. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she was known for her inquisitive nature and love for reading. She found immense joy in the beauty of the North Carolina mountains, especially during the vibrant leaf-changing seasons.

Barbara's legacy is marked by her pride in being a loving wife for 60 years and a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her professional accomplishments included her role as a Certified Professional Secretary, leadership as President of the UCF Staff Council, and contributions to the UCF Student Government President Council. Additionally, she shared her faith and knowledge by teaching 12-year-old girls in Sunday School.

Barbara will be fondly remembered as a kind and compassionate person who cherished people and the wonders of God's creation.
