Betty Herrin Conway Fisher, 89, of Marietta, passed away on April 1, 2024. Betty Jo Herrin was born in Marietta, Ga in 1934 as the second of four children, but first girl to Hoyt and Delma Herrin.  She grew up on a farm, alongside her siblings James (oldest), Annette and Nancy.  The Herrin's, like a lot of folks in that time, were farmers who got up early, worked hard, canned their goods, went to church on Sundays, loved family, and were just darn good people who wanted the best for their children.  Betty figured out pretty quickly she didn't like farming, but was ok with hard work.  After graduating from Sprayberry High School and Massey Business School, she went to work for the next 57 years… 37 with Dupont, 10 with Piedmont Hospital and 10 more with Kennestone Hospital.  Along the way she gardened, went to church, occasionally shopped too much at Sears and Roebuck and found time to raise three children; Marie, Debbie, and Stan.  Betty had an envious flair for life making things seem easy and under control all the time.  She was cheerful, joyful, had a quick wit and a great sense of humor.  In her later years, she loved ballroom dancing.  Perhaps it was just another chance to dress up in her high heels, hair set, nails painted Big Apple Red and embrace life to its fullest.

Betty is survived by her children; Marie McGowin/Joe, Debbie Gehrlich/Jeff, and Stan Conway/Leslie, grandchildren;  Craig, Kevin, Kristy, Adam, Caroline, Davis and Ellie,  great grandson; Elijah, and her two sisters.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 2:00pm at Marietta Funeral Home. The family will receive friends and visitors for one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Fisher will be laid to rest at Hickory Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Acworth, Georgia.
