Billy "Bill" Thomas Brown, aged 83, a longtime resident of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on October 18, 2023.

Born January 13, 1940, in Summerville, Georgia, and raised in Chickamauga, Georgia, Bill attended Gordon Lee Memorial High School where he was involved in track and field and chorus. He continued his education at the Georgia Institute of Technology and Kennesaw State College where he pursued a degree in business administration. Bill was also a proud veteran having served his country in the United States Air Force.

He dedicated 35 years of his life to a long and distinguished career as a Senior Design Engineer at Lockheed Martin Corporation where his notable contributions included work on the C-141 Starlifter, multiple designs of the C-5 Galaxy, and held top secret clearance to work on the F-117 Nighthawk. In addition to his professional achievements, he held the distinction of being an Emeritus member of Springville Masonic Lodge #153, a leader within the Boy Scouts, and a member of First Baptist Church, Woodstock, Georgia. Beyond his work, Bill's creative and technical acumen shone through his enthusiasm for radio controller model airplanes and active participation in several flying groups, including the Cobb County Radio Control Modelers Club. He was a passionate golfer, car enthusiast, ardent reader, and demonstrated a keen aptitude for building computer systems. Bill, alongside his wife, embarked on a remarkable journey as world travelers visiting more than 40 countries together.

Bill is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Katherine Lewis Brown; daughter Stacy Brown Landrum (Dustin), Loganville, Georgia; son Thomas Ashley Brown, Seattle, Washington; sister Anita Christian (Harold), Conyers, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Thomas Arvil Brown, and his mother Claudia Henderson Brown, Chickamauga, Georgia; sister, Nancy Maxine Waters, Chickamauga, Georgia; and his beloved feline companion, Boots. A celebration of life will take place on November 11, 2023 from 11:00am-1:00pm at the Marietta Funeral Home.
