Charlene Virginia Chastain Waldroop, 82 of Marietta, Georgia, died Wednesday, April 30, 2025.  A native of Macon County, Franklin, North Carolina, daughter of the late Marcus Nathan Chastain and Minnie Lee Reid Chastain.  Charlene was married to Mickey Waldroop (also from Franklin, NC) for 62 years.  They have lived in Marietta, GA for 62 years.

She worked as a church secretary for Austin Avenue Baptist Church for 31 years.  She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother.   She deeply loved all her family.

Survivors include husband, Mickey Waldroop, son, James Waldroop (Michelle) of Kennesaw, GA, two grandsons, Nathan Waldroop of Cummings, GA and Wesley Waldroop of Woodstock, GA, sister, Betty Waldroop of Marietta, GA, and several nieces and nephews.

Charlene was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church.  She was a woman of great faith and prayer.  She enjoyed crafts, camping, fishing, and family gatherings, always planning the next meal.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 10th, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Marietta Funeral Home with Dr. Randy Cheek officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
