David Hawkins, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Born in Anderson, South Carolina, on July 10, 1975, to Dawn Mayo and Michael Hawkins, David's journey was one marked by enduring connections and a zest for life.
David graduated from Glynn Academy in Brunswick, Georgia, in 1993. He then pursued higher education at Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, Georgia, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in 1998. It was in Milledgeville that his life would change forever, as he met and fell deeply in love with Stephanie, who would become his devoted wife. His time at university was also formative in forging lifelong friendships through his fraternity, Pi Kappa Phi, where he demonstrated his leadership qualities by serving as archon in 1997.
A man of simple pleasures and profound joys, David had a particular fondness for all things Waffle House and was a passionate supporter of SEC football, especially his revered Georgia Bulldawgs. He found great happiness grilling on his BBQ, relaxing by a good beach or pool, and sharing his love for basketball with his son Owen. A cherished tradition he established was "Dad's breakfast," a weekly event with his children that continued for many years, creating lasting bonds and treasured moments.
David's memory will be forever held in the hearts of his surviving family: his loving wife, Stephanie Hawkins; their cherished children, Owen Charles, Ava Jayne, and Noah David. He is also survived by his devoted parents, Dawn Mayo and Michael Hawkins; his brother, Drew Hawkins, along with Drew's wife Liza, and their children, Anderson and Knox, In addition, to many more family members.
David's warm presence, his unwavering love for his family, and his enthusiasm for life's simple pleasures will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
