Dawn Denise Eckes, a beacon of love and kindness, left this world on July 7, 2024, at the age of 64. Born on September 3, 1959, in Midland, Texas, Dawn's journey through life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her family, her passion for life, and her selfless nature. She passed away peacefully in McCormick, South Carolina, surrounded by the love of her family.

Dawn spent her early years in Midland and Austin, Texas before moving to the Atlanta area in 1971. Dawn graduated from Walton High School in 1978 but her thirst for knowledge and her desire to help others led her to pursue further education, culminating in a degree in Dental Hygiene from Perimeter College in 1997. Her professional path was defined by a tireless work ethic and an innate ability to bring comfort and care to those she served.

For nearly three decades, Dawn navigated the challenges of being a hardworking single mom with grace and determination. Her strength during those years laid the foundation for the beautiful tapestry of family life. Dawn's heart found its match when she met her devoted husband, Bill. Together, they shared a love that many only dream of, a partnership that was a testament to true companionship and mutual respect.

Dawn's zest for life was evident in her many interests. She loved to travel, exploring the world's wonders with a sense of adventure and curiosity. Dawn loved music and she reveled in the experience of live concerts. Dawn had a refined palate for great wines and took pleasure in the art of cooking. The beach and pool were her sanctuaries, places where she found tranquility and joy in the simple pleasures of life.

Dawn was preceded in death by her father, Louis Gardner and step-father Tom Campbell, whose memory remained a guiding light throughout her life. She is survived by her husband, Bill Eckes, her mother, Charlotte Campbell, her six children; Apryl (Robert), Amanda (Jamey), Austin (Allie), Jeremy (Karla), Matthew (Cassie), and Will, as well as two sisters; Diane (Dennis) Albright and Lisa (Gary) Free. The title of 'MiMi' was one Dawn wore with immense pride. Her eight grandchildren; Alexandria, Ayla, Jaxson, Axel, Archer, Henry, Logan and Luke, were her delight and joy.

As we bid farewell to Dawn, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a legacy of love that will continue to shine brightly. Her spirit will forever be cherished and remembered, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who loved her. Dawn's journey through life was a testament to the power of love, the beauty of family, and the importance of leaving the world a better place than we found it. She will be deeply missed, yet her light will continue to guide us, just as the dawn breaks through the darkness, bringing hope to a new day.

The family will receive visitors at First Baptist Church of Woodstock in the "A" Building Auditorium on Thursday, July 18, 2024 from 12:00PM - 1:45PM followed by the memorial service at 2:00PM. Guests are invited to join the family at a reception immediately following the service.

Dawn will be laid to rest at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia with a private ceremony at a later date.
