Dena Cohen Jacobs

Born on the 4th of July in Hickory NC, Mrs Jacobs passed away in Marietta, Georgia on March 27, 2022 following a brief illness. Family attended her.

She is preceeded in death by her parents, Tessie Lederer and Harry Cohen, and siblings Ethel Cohen (Isadore) Kaminsky, Julius (Lois Klein) Cohen, David Cohen, and Bessie Jacobs (Al) Bohrer. H er husband of 58 years, David Jacobs, passed away in 2009.

Her teaching career included kindergarten through high school. She retired from AC Reynolds HS in Asheville, NC, where history was her primary focus. Mrs Jacobs graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill.

Love of family, learning, and a good story filled Mrs Jacobs' life. Being a member of Toastmistress, Alpha Kappa Delta, and Beth Ha Tephila were her primary activities in Asheville. During retirement in Santa Fe, NM, life included the The Gourmet Club, Stitch n Bitch Club, elderhostel, and Beit Tikva. The Cobb County Aquatic Center was a favorite spot for Mrs Jacobs in the latter years of her life.

Dena Jacobs is survived by her children, Jennifer Jacobs of Weaverville, NC, and Steve (Jennifer Williams) Jacobs of Marietta, grandchildren Kristen Jacobs (Adam) Stoner, Evan Jacobs of Atlanta, and great-grandchildren Korben and Vash Stoner of Marietta. Surviving siblings are Sara Cohen (David) Gordon of Greensboro, NC and Manuel (Elinor Bush) Cohen of Charleston, SC and Moncks Corner, SC, plus numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 4 pm on May 10th at Marietta Funeral Home, 915 Piedmont Road Marietta, GA 30066. Visitation will be at 3 pm. Rabbi Lauren Cohn will conduct the service. No flowers are requested. Donations may be made in Mrs Jacobs' memory to World Central Kitchen, or the charity of one's choice.
