Eddie Dean
Scarbrough
Mar 19, 1955 — Aug 24, 2020
Eddie Dean Scarbrough, 65, of Marietta, passed away Monday, August 24, 2020. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, August 28 th at Harmony Grove Baptist Church in Marietta with Rev. Jared Butler officiating.
Eddie was born in Maryville, TN on March 19, 1955 to JD and Dorothy Scarbrough. He grew up in Marietta, GA and graduated from Marietta High School, where he also played football. Eddie played baseball at Perry Parham as well.
In 1987, he married Sandra, the love of his life and raised five kids. Eddie was an avid sports lover, but he also loved anything his children loved - whether it be sports or Pokémon. As a result, he coached many baseball and softball teams (Perry Parham, Sandy Plains, East Cobb) and coached Upward Sports teams at both Johnson Ferry Baptist Church and First Baptist Church Woodstock. He was the very best sideline cheerleader and volunteer for Pope High School's color guard, wrestling and football teams. He was loyal to the Tennessee Vols and loved any type of college football.
When Eddie wasn't attending sporting events, he was eagerly helping those around him. If he heard of a need, he would try his best to meet it. Eddie volunteered and served on the board for the Salvation Army and was also a Kiwanis Club member.
To know Eddie was to love him. He honestly never met a stranger. Most importantly, Eddie loved Jesus and his faith was very important to him. He was a member at Harmony Grove Baptist Church.
Eddie's family was his greatest accomplishment. He adored being Sandra's husband; he loved being a dad. But the title of Pawpaw was his absolute favorite, which he made known to anyone he encountered.
Eddie is survived by his wife Sandra Scarbrough, son Stephen Scarbrough (Stephanie), son Joe Scarbrough (Brendy), son Chris Thomas (Lauren), daughter Maddie McCullough (Taylor), and son Nathan Scarbrough (Rebecca). Seven grandchildren (Nathan, JC, Jack, Aubree, Amos, Evie and Jenson). His mother Dorothy Scarbrough, brother James Blankenship (Colleen), brother Bobby Scarbrough (Jeanette) and sister Laureen Dial (John).
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-8pm at Marietta Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a GoFundMe memorial fund to assist with funeral and medical expenses at the following link GoFundMe: https://gf.me/u/yt5ccq
