Ernestine Prosser Propst, 96, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2024, in Roswell, Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Kenneth Howell Propst; her parents, Lory Bascom Prosser and Lena McCown Prosser; and her siblings, Ellawese Mitchell, James Prosser, Harold Prosser, and her twin sister, Ethelyne Seymour.
Ernestine, affectionately known as "Tine", was a woman whose life was defined by her kindness, selflessness, and an ever-present, radiant smile that touched the lives of all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Kevin Howell Propst of Dunwoody, GA, and his daughters, Peyton Propst of Brentwood, CA, and Harper Propst of Lexington, KY; as well as her daughter, Nancy Propst Johnson (Craig) of Knoxville, TN, and their children, Alex Johnson (Morgin) of Memphis, TN, and Claire Johnson of Knoxville, TN.

Born on May 8, 1928, in Effingham, SC, Tine grew up on a farm, where she learned the values of hard work and perseverance. She attended Wingate College, where she quickly made her mark, excelling in sports and earning a letter in basketball. It was during her sophomore year that she met the love of her life, Ken Propst. They married on September 3, 1947, beginning a partnership that would span nearly seven decades. After their marriage, Tine followed Ken to Spartanburg, SC, where he attended Wofford College. Upon his graduation, they moved to Charlotte, NC, where they adopted two children: Kevin in 1959 and Nancy in 1962. They later moved to Richmond, VA, before settling in Atlanta, GA, in 1965, where they would call home for many years.
Tine was deeply committed to her family and faith. In the early years of raising her children, she was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary with the Northside Youth Organization and a devoted member of Wieuca Road Baptist Church. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and her kindness and warmth were felt by all who encountered her.
After her children were older, Tine returned to the workforce, holding positions at Buster Brown and Milliken Textiles. She and Ken retired to Winder, GA, in 1996, where they became active members of the First Baptist Church of Winder. Tine never slowed down in her retirement. She served as an Elections Coordinator for her precinct in Barrow County, worked as a substitute teacher at local elementary schools, provided companionship to the elderly through Home Instead, and was a passionate reader and bingo enthusiast.
Tine's legacy is one of love, care, and service to others. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.

A memorial service to celebrate Tine's life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 12:00 pm at Misty Creek Community Church, 590 Mount Vernon Hwy NE, Sandy Springs, GA with Rev. Irby Stanley officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 11 am Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital in Tine's honor.
