Frances Maureen Godwin passed away peacefully on Friday, July 31, 2020, at the Evergreen Memory Care Unit of Arbor Terrace of Burnt Hickory in Marietta, Georgia.

She was born in Wichita Falls, Wichita Co., Texas on July 19, 1926 to Oda Deliah Ratliff Perkins and Herbert Daniel Perkins.

She was the beloved mother of Constance Chapman, Roberta Jean Mattord, Thomas Mattord, Terrence Mattord, and Herbert Mattord.

She was preceded in death by her husband Maxwell Paul Godwin, her daughter Mary Kay Nelson, and her two sisters Mildred Virginia Bryant and Dorothy Jeanne Walker.

Frances loved spending time with family, reading, camping, and genealogy. She had worked for the I.R.S. until her retirement at the age of 65. She was also an active member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and the Daughters of the American Revolution until she moved to Georgia in the summer of 2015 for health reasons.
