Gail Sims Dobbins went home peacefully to her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at her residence.
Winona Gail was born August 20, 1947 the third child of the late Janie and James Sims of Jasper, Georgia. She attended Pickens County High School and graduated in 1965. She began what would be a successful, almost 30 year career at Southern Bell, and then BellSouth, at the age of 18 in Marietta, Georgia as an operator. She would retire in 1997 as an Engineering Assistant.
In 1967 she met and married the love of her life Gerald "Pat" Dobbins, a Marietta, Georgia native, and that is where they made their home together until his passing in January of 2007. She was a faithful wife caring for and staying by his side everyday of his prolonged illness. They enjoyed 39 years together and her family rejoices in knowing Pat welcomed her to Heaven with open arms this week.
She loved Elvis, chocolate, musical theater, and the Atlanta Braves but her most joy came from spending time with her precious grandchildren. Gail was a member of Restoration Life Christian Fellowship.
She is survived by her two daughters Alana (Scott) Lucero of Woodstock, Georgia and Patricia (Shane) Kirby of Lavonia, Georgia; her grandchildren Christopher Lucero, Kathryn (Kent) Johnston, Carter Lucero, Taylor Kirby and Sydney Kirby; her beloved sister Beverly (Richard) White of Jasper, Georgia and many treasured nieces and nephews.
Gail was also predeceased by her brother Lenning (Louise) Sims of Jasper, Georgia.
The immediate family will receive friends and family Friday, January 26th 5-8 pm and Saturday, January 27th at 10-11 am at Marietta Funeral Home and Crematory. The memorial service will be held Saturday, January 27th at 11 am at the funeral home. The Reverend Ken Kessler will officiate the service.
Gail wished for all her mourners to wear red, her favorite color.
