Gene Shirley, 80, of Marietta, passed away Thursday August 17, 2023.  A memorial service will be held 2:00pm Thursday August 24, 2023 in the Chapel of Marietta Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Scott Hagan officiating.  Mr. Shirley was a painter by trade and owned Shirley Brothers Painting.  He served in the Navy, was a Mason with the Roswell Lodge and also a Shriner.  He loved the Braves and UGA.  Mr. Shirley was preceded in death by sons, Todd Shirley and Troy Shirley; brother, Mike Shirley.  He is survived by his wife, Lynda Shirley; step children, Julie (Scott) Hagan, Karen Anderson and Zach (Jamie) Anderson; brother, Danny Shirley; nephews, Dustin Shirley and Derek Shirley; 4 grandsons.  The family will receive friends 12:30 - 2:00pm prior to the service.  Marietta Funeral Home, 915 Piedmont Rd., Marietta, GA 30066  770.422.1234.
