Obituary

Geraldine Ragsdale Rich Murphy, age 81, passed away on July 13 th .   She is preceded in death by her husband Ralph Ardell Murphy, her father Gilbert Edward Ragsdale, her mother Thelma Pauline Kendrix, her brother Donald Edward Ragsdale, and her daughter Tammy Lynnette Rich.  She is survived by her daughter Terry Rich Elliott, her son-in-law Rob Elliott, her sisters Stella Bledsoe, Shirley Bresadola, and Agnes Hamilton, her brothers Jim Brown and George Brown, her granddaughter Erika Rich Elliott, and her grandsons Adam Jones and Brian Jones.

Gerry was raised in Lilburn, Georgia, in Gwinnett County, on a farm in the country.   She graduated from Decatur High School.   She worked for 10 years at General Motors Acceptance, and then 34 years for the State of Georgia as a Budget Analyst, from where she retired.

As a practicing Christian, she was a member of Summit Baptist Church in Acworth.   She was also a member of Daughters of the Nile organization where she held several officer positions over the years, including one year as Queen.

Geraldine was a vibrant individual with many friends who will miss her warm smile and sweet disposition.   Gerry loved flowers, sacred music, anything pink or blue, and sparkly jewelry. She loved to take daily walks, study her Bible, travel, solve crossword puzzles, and spend time with her family and friends.  She never could get enough peanut butter or fresh vegetables (tomatoes were her favorite).  She also loved gardening, and could grow anything.

A memorial service to celebrate Geraldine's life will be planned in the coming months.    In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Summit Baptist Church ( https://summitchurch.org/giving/ ) or Daughters of the Nile ( https://donfdn.org/donate/ ).
