In Loving Memory of Gideon Sumner Tyde Hawk

April 12, 2004 - January 28, 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gideon Sumner Tyde Hawk, a courageous soul who departed this world on January 28, 2024. Gideon is survived by his loving parents, Sabra and Nathan Hawk, devoted sister Crimsyn and her fiancée Cameron Allison, and his adoring brothers Brynnegan, and Hamish. He is also survived by his grandparents: Robby and Ducky Wing, and John and Donna Hawk, along with a large extended family of many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that he considered family. He also leaves behind his loving fur-babies Apollo Bryant and Ele Bear.

Gideon never wavered from his positive outlook on life, despite the challenges this life threw at him.

Gideon grew up playing any sport that was presented. He started gymnastics when he was 1 and continued for many years. He played baseball, basketball and football. He was a true athlete that could master any sport he tried. Gideon also loved going to the driving range and would stay for hours.

He would ride his bike for miles and come home telling stories of the beautiful clouds and the smiling people or a song that inspired him to ride faster or longer. His positive nature and huge heart was a servant, caring and loving in everything he did in life.

Gideon attended North Cobb High School Magnet program for 3 years until his ailments prevented his commute. During his time at North Cobb he traveled Europe and explored 7 countries and came home with a lifetime of stories. He was on the wrestling team and fell in love with the sport, his team, and coaches.
The friends he made during this time became family and he would talk about how lucky he was to have such deep friendships- especially as he powered through his health issues. His short time at Walton High School also brought him more friendships that he cherished.

In September 2023 Gideon received a new Kidney and was the 800th transplant recipient at Children's Health Care of Atlanta. He has grown so close to all of his nurses and doctors at CHOA - our love goes out to everyone on the Transplant Stepdown Unit (6E) for all of your love and care over these last 5 years. We are forever grateful for Sydney's selflessness and support in volunteering as Gideon's live kidney donor. She will forever be part of our family.

Gideon faced life with the spirit of a warrior, bravely fighting the challenges that came his way. Despite the struggles, his strength shone brightly, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. In his journey, Gideon displayed resilience, inspiring all who witnessed his unwavering courage. He left positivity, love, strength, and hope in the hearts of everyone who met him.

As we bid farewell to Gideon, we find solace in knowing that he is no longer burdened by pain and is now free to run joyfully in the great beyond. We envision him surrounded by some of his favorite things: cars to tinker with, and snow to enjoy, until we meet again. His spirit will forever live on in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Gideon's honor to the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Kidney Transplant Division , extending his legacy of hope and support to those who continue to battle similar challenges.

A private family gathering will be held at the Hawk Family Residence in Marietta from 2:00-5:00pm this Friday, February 2nd.

The family invites all loved ones to a Celebration of Gideon's Life to be held at the same location on April 12th at 6:00pm.
