It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Hazel Ann Milam, mother, grandmother, and friend. Hazel left us on March 21, 2025, when at the age of 88, she passed away peacefully, in her sleep.

Born on February 28, 1937, Hazel lived most of her life in the Atlanta and Marietta, Ga. area. Her journey began in Atlanta, as the second of two children born to Felix Barger and Lillie House, both of Cartersville, Ga.

Hazel dedicated her early adult life to her family, including her husband of 63 years, Gene Milam and their 3 children. Hazel was very active in the early childhood years with school activities, scouting, and sports. Later in life, she became a prolific gardener, often keeping multiple freezers filled with every type of vegetable. She lost her beloved Gene in 2017 and lived on her own until a fall took her independence almost exactly one year ago.

In her personal life, Hazel was known for her Christian dedication. She was a lifelong Baptist and most recently, a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church. Along with her husband Gene, she was a tireless worker in senior activities, AWANA, and food ministries.

She leaves behind a loving family: brother Frank Mayer, son Ron (Joyce) Milam, daughter, Karen (Greg) Mikkelson, daughter in law Melissa Milam, granddaughters, Emily Milam, Amanda Seaman, Allie Rehbein, Katie Milam, and grandson, Chris Milam. Her middle child, son Rick Milam preceded her in death in January of 2024. In addition, Hazel had 4 great grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate Hazel's life will be held on March 28 at the Marietta Funeral Home, 915 Piedmont Rd, Mariett, Ga. At 1:00. Friends and family are invited to honor her memory and share their stories of love and remembrance.
