Walt Carmony, 84, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on January 17, 2024. Born on November 11, 1939, to Harold and Elizabeth Carmony in Dayton, Ohio, he was the youngest of four children. Walt learned to work on cars and small engines as a child and used those skills throughout his life fixing just about anything. Professionally, he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Tampa in 1961, followed by a Bachelor and a Master of Divinity from Emory University. He then earned a Master of Accountancy from Georgia State University. Walt used this final degree as an accountant with the State of Georgia for thirty-two (32) distinguished years, culminating as the Director of Accounting for the Georgia Department of Corrections.

The joy of his life was spending time with his wife and family. Walt spent years coaching his son's little league teams. He instilled a love of the Atlanta Braves in both sons, despite many years of less than stellar baseball in the 70s and 80s. After his sons grew, his passion turned to watching his grandchildren compete in everything from cheerleading, to baseball, to softball, lacrosse and golf. When not spending time at games or various other events with family, you could find Walt at the lake. A dedicated angler he loved anytime he could drop a line in the water.

Walt is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 61 years, Jean, their first son Mark Carmony and his wife Tracy, their second son Brian Carmony and his wife Connie, their granddaughter Cori Price and her husband Zack, their grandson Andrew Carmony, and his sister-in-law Jackie Carmony.

The Carmonys will receive family and friends from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 21, at Marietta Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. on Monday,  January 22. Reverend Larry Wynn will officiate. Internment immediately following for family at Arlington Cemetery.
