Howell Franklin
Wilson
Aug 13, 1939 — Oct 30, 2019
Howell Franklin Wilson, 80, of Marietta, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2019. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 3 rd at 2:30 pm at Christ Worship Center 3393 Canton Rd., Marietta with Pastor Dannie Hix officiating. Mr. Wilson will lie-in-state from 1:30 - 2:30 pm. Burial will follow the service in the Noonday Baptist Church Cemetery.
He grew up on Hattie St., in Cartersville, across the street from his home church. His Father was Homer Wilson and Mother, Mama Wilson had great influence on his faith in Christ. He was the baby of eight children. He went to work at Lockheed at age 18 and was there for 40 years. Also had a good retirement at home with wife Vonscylle since 2002.
Howell is survived by his wife, Vonscylle of almost 60 yrs; three daughters, Tammy Miller (Andy Miller), Kimberly Fluke (Michael Fluke), Keisha Vaughn (Jay Vaughn); six grandchildren, Joshua Fluke, April Von Fluke, Wesley Howell Miller, Brian Miller, Kate Miller and Joi Miller.
He became a deacon in his early 30's at this church and held many offices. Treasurer, Band Leader, Youth Choir Director, Soft Ball Coach for the boys team, Senior Group Leader, Pastoral Coordinator, Georgia Youth Camp activities and also active in the Bread ministry and the local church food bank.
Howell was generous, loving and kind and never met a stranger. Always helping others and giving the chance, he would talk about Jesus.
We were told by the hospice coordinator that a doctor had written something on his final chart that she had never seen in her 15yrs of service and it touched her deeply. We believe it was his friend and doctor, Dr. McCune who wrote:
HE, (HOWELL) WAS A MAN OF GREAT FAITH!!
Howell always talked about how "Life Is A Journey" and what the most important part of this journey is.
Many of his friends would also hear Bro. Howell say:
FAITH IS NOT BELIEVING THAT GOD CAN
IT IS KNOWING THAT HE WILL.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening, November 2 nd from 5-9 pm at Marietta Funeral Home 915 Piedmont Rd., Marietta, GA 30066, 770.422.1234. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mariettafuneralhome.org
