James "Jim" Howard Bunch

Jim Bunch, 88 years young, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends, on February 8, 2019. He will forever be remembered and missed by his family and the dozens of friends who faithfully visited him throughout his months of fighting cancer.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 11, 2019 at 10:30am in the chapel of Marietta Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Bunch officiating. Interment will be at Ball Creek Baptist Church in Talking Rock, GA.

He was born June 4, 1930 in Ellijay, Georgia but spent most of his life in the Marietta area.

He graduated from Acworth High School where he was captain of the basketball and football teams. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served on the 14th infantry in Korea (1951-1952) and along with is wife, Marilyn, was active in hosting and attending several Army buddy reunions.

After his return from service he met and married Kay Louise Allen and together they had three children, Eric, Susan and Clark.

Shortly after retiring from Lockheed Aircraft at age 57, he met and married Marilyn Caswell who joined him in doing the things he loved; hunting, fishing at the family cabin on Lake Blue Ridge, and taking their 1966 Corvette to car shows. Big Jim also loved tinkering on boat motors in the back yard and getting together with his buddies to tell tall tales. He was a great father and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Bunch; son and daughter in law, Eric and Alethia Bunch; daughter and son in law, Susan and Dean Baker and sadly pre-deceased by his son Clark Bunch.  He is survived by his grandsons, Ryan Bunch and Curtis Bunch; granddaughter, Erica (Bunch) Browning and the following great grandchildren: Anslee, Michaela and Skyler Bunch and Wyatt Browning.

The family will receive friends Sunday, February 10, 2019 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the funeral home.
