Rev. Jarrell E. Dickerson, 85, of Marietta, passed away Tuesday August 17, 2021.  A graveside service will be held at 1:00PM on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Marietta with Rev. Rick Jones officiating.  The family will receive friends on Thursday evening August 19th from 6:00-8:00PM at Marietta Funeral Home 915 Piedmont Rd., Marietta, GA  30066. The family has requested mask be worn during the visitation at the funeral home.

Jarrell started working full time at Atlantic Steel Company in Atlanta when he was in the tenth grade; later he worked at Westinghouse and as a sewing machine repairman at Canton Mills and sold insurance for Liberty Mutual Insurance and BMI. Jarrell spent six years in the Air Force Reserve. Jarrell worked in automobile sales for a time before ultimately starting a successful recycling business recovering, transporting, and selling used railroad cross ties. Starting in his early twenties and continuing for the rest of his life, Jarrell sang gospel music in several groups including the following groups: Songmasters, Monarchs, Thrasher Brothers, Smile a While, and Preachers. Jarrell was forty when God called him to start preaching, and at forty three, he became a full time church pastor. Jarrell pastored several Baptist churches: Kingtown in McCaysville, Victory in Douglasville, Bellview in Rockmart, and Harmony Grove in Roswell.

Rev. Dickerson is survived by his son, Michael (Sharon) Dickerson; (3) daughters, Vicky Boys (Joe Brooks), Sandra (Eddie) Scarbrough and Deborah  (Dr. Russell) Seabolt; (1) brother, Kenny Dickerson of Marietta; (1) sister, Martha Sue Cape of Holly Springs; (7) grandchildren; (7) great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
