Obituary

 Javier Gholston Mina, born on September 24, 2003, in Atlanta, Georgia, passed away on May 3, 2024, in Marietta, Georgia, at the age of 20. He is survived by his adoring mother Melondy Mina, father Francisco Mina-Villegas, older sister Francesca (Vincent) Mina Consumano, his best friend and baby sister, Raquel Mina, his aunt & God-mother Ines Amalia (Cesar) Mina, Aunt Danielle (Tony) Carey, Great Grandmother Lula Spencer, and Grandmother Rosa Menafee. Javier was preceded in death by his grandparents Edwin and Deloris Gholston, Evelio Mina and Alba Mery Villegas de Mina, and beloved "Uncle Bill", William A. Kindricks. He also leaves behind many family members and friends that loved him dearly. 

 Javier attended Covenant Christian School for his primary education. He graduated with honors from Blessed Trinity Catholic High School in 2022 and was in his second year as a Presidential Scholar at The George Washington University (GWU), at the time of his death. He worked at The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum as a Social Media Intern, The George Washington University School of Business as a Business Leader Development Mentor, Good Light World as a Social Media and Content Creation Intern, and Aritzia as a Style Specialist. 

 Javier worshipped most recently at Transfiguration Catholic Church and previously at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, where he received his sacraments, sang in the choir, and helped his mom lead Parish School of Religion classes for several years. 

 Javier was an incredibly gifted and talented young man - a born leader and entertainer. He performed in numerous shows at The Strand Theatre, Six Flags Over Georgia, The Mable House Theatre, Dance it Off Dance Troupe, and at GWU. He captivated audiences with his voice and charisma and he lit up every stage he was on and every room he entered. He was a member of the GWU Undergraduate Consulting Group, GWU Fashion Business Association, Member and Director of Social Media for Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity. His hobbies and gifts included Musical Theatre, Singing, Acting, Dancing, Lifestyle Blogging, Baking, Traveling, Reading, and Soul Cycle. 

 A visitation will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Marietta Funeral Home located at 915 Piedmont Road, Marietta, GA 30066. The Memorial Mass is scheduled for Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Transfiguration Catholic Church on 1815 Blackwell Road, Marietta, GA 30066, followed by a reception in the Social Hall. 

 Javier will be so dearly missed by all who knew him and his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched. His incredible talent, intelligence, radiant smile, beautifully kind and generous spirit, and impeccable style will never be matched.
