Our nation lost a hero on May 28th, 2024, when Jerold William Brown (53) passed away following a courageous four-year battle with cancer. Jerry enlisted in the United States Army in 1988 and served his country with distinction until 1991. He was a Veteran of the Gulf War, serving with the 1st Infantry Division in Desert Storm.

While serving the nation, Jerry was awarded the Southwest Asia Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, the Army Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Lapel Button, the Sharpshooter Medal, the Marksman Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge. We are all indebted to Jerry for his sacrifice.

Jerold William Brown was born on June 8th, 1970, at the MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida to Gerald and Beverly Brown. His family moved to Enon, Ohio when Jerry was four years old, he graduated from Greenon High School in 1988, and in August of that year, enlisted in the US Army.

After his military service, Jerry spent time with his mother in Texas and his father in Ohio before utilizing the GI Bill to attend Coosa Valley Technical School where he focused on computer and information technology.

Jerry's career path led him to Billian Publishing Company in Atlanta, Georgia where he managed the company's information technology. While working at the publishing company, Jerry met Jamie Griffin in 2000. Jamie and Jerry's friendship blossomed, and they were married in Kennesaw Georgia on April 3rd, 2004. Jerry remained lovingly devoted to Jamie through every second of their twenty-year marriage.

On October 31st, 2006, Jamie and Jerry welcomed Sophia Noel Brown to their family, and five years later, on November 13th, 2011, Hudson Lee Brown arrived and made their happy family complete. Jerry's devotion to his family was his highest and most important priority, and he spent countless hours on the sidelines and cheering on Sophia during her soccer matches, and Hudson in baseball games and most recently on the tennis court. He was also an outdoorsman, and enjoyed working in his garden and yard, hiking and camping, and Jerry even spent a week trekking on the Appalachian Trail with his close friend, Luke. Every year, Jerry looked forward to family trips to Orange Beach, Alabama; Port St. Lucie, Florida; and their trip to Ohio in July to spend Independence Day with his family. Jerry was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed attending many games. Up until his passing, Jerry served as Director of Technology for Belt Power Company in the Atlanta area.

Jerold William Brown is survived by his loving wife Jamie, his beloved children Sophia Noel and Hudson Lee, his father and stepmother, Gerald and Ginny Brown of Enon, Ohio, and his mother and stepfather, Beverly and Jim Langrell of Sheridan, Arkansas. Also, Jerry is survived by his sisters, Jill Walker of Sheridan, Arkansas and Jackie Yawn of Enon, Ohio; his stepsister Leslie Hicks and her husband Paul of the Villages in Florida, and his stepbrother David McClure. Nieces and a nephew, many cousins, countless friends and colleagues, and Jamie and Jerry's large extended family are left to honor Jerry's memory.

A ceremony and visitation to celebrate Jerry's life will be held on Friday, June 7th at 10:00 AM, followed by a visitation from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at Marietta Funeral Home in Marietta, Georgia. Jerold William Brown's life and deeply honorable service to the nation will be long remembered and cherished.
