Jerry Lou
Rowell
Dec 2, 1946 — Jan 18, 2021
Marietta
JERRY LOU ROWELL went to be with her heavenly father on January 18, 2021 after an extended illness. Jerry had recently celebrated her 74 th birthday and was looking forward to celebrating her 55 th wedding anniversary with the love of her life, Llewellyn Rowell. After growing up in Birmingham, Alabama, this loving couple moved to Georgia and spent the majority of their married life in Marietta. Jerry and Lew shared their home life and work life as she served as Office Manager in Lew's insurance agency. This life lovingly included their son, Jeff, his wife Vanessa, and their 4 beloved grandchildren, Nicholas (Lexi), Benjamin (Carly), Harrison and (Baby Girl) Makenzie. This circle enlarged with each passing day to include the many people whose paths crossed with theirs and became as family if not by blood then by love. Jerry's open heart made many people feel a part of her life. Jerry was preceded in death by her brother, Bob (survived by wife, Carolyn Evans).
Jerry spent nearly 30 years along with her other volunteers heading up and being passionately involved in the Caring Ministry at Eastside Baptist Church, Marietta, Georgia. She led her teams of volunteers to discern the needs of the many who knocked on the doors of Eastside for assistance. No need was overlooked be it for the person who needed a bottle of aspirin for his pounding headache and had no means of transportation nor money with which to pay for it to the single mom whose power was about to be turned off, or to stay the eviction notice that was about to be served. Utility bills were paid and gasoline was purchased so that the needy could get to work. Through this ministry food was supplied to fill empty cabinets. Jerry's empathy was endless, and her discernment was great. Each person was reminded that the money was not hers nor Eastside's, but was from God.
Jerry wore many hats at Eastside and could be found over the years doing most of whatever was asked of her.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Eastwood Baptist Church, 1150 Allgood Rd. NE, Marietta GA 30062 (770) 973-9011 with the Rev. Dr. Randy Cheek officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 11:00AM to 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Eastside Caring Ministry, 2450 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta GA 30068 or to the charity of your choice.
Jerry's greatest desire in life was for all to come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. She would want you to be reminded that this is a gift freely given, and she spent her life sharing this news. Don't let this opportunity pass you by as your life can end in a second.
