John A. LaRue Jr., 75, of Marietta, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024.  A funeral service will be held at Marietta Funeral Home on Saturday, December 28 at 11:00am.  Burial will follow the service at Georgia Memorial Park.

John was a veteran of the Marine Corps. When he wasn't working, he loved to play golf and spend time with his friends in his Corvette club.  John was a Master Mason and member of Kennesaw Lodge #33 F&AM, Marietta. He was also a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason Valley of Atlanta; Yaarab Shrine Temple, Atlanta, where he was affectionally known as "Long John" the clown in the Red Devil Clown Unit. John had served as President of the Unit in 1987. He also was a member of the Southeast Clown Association and had served as Secretary and Treasurer also. He was a member of the Classic Glass Corvette Club, Marietta. His greatest passion in life though was his family, and he wouldn't miss a grandchild's sporting event if he could make it.  John was larger than life in every way and will be greatly missed by those he leaves behind.

John is survived by his wife, Mary Lou LaRue; daughter, Michelle Brackett (Jonathan); son, Michael LaRue (Deanna); sister, Jan Tuttle; brothers, Henry LaRue (Julia), and Tony LaRue; grandchildren, Jonathan Collins, Matthew Collins, Zachary Collins, Preston Brackett, Mason LaRue and Demi LaRue; great grandchildren, Vincent Collins, Jovie Collins, Camilia Collins, Jade Collins, and Colson Collins.
