Johnny Harold Passman was born October 10, 1939 in Cleveland, Tennessee, and lived a storied life in Tennessee, Florida, California, and finally Georgia. The youngest of four children, he grew up in Cleveland going to Bradley Central High School and eventually joined the Tennessee National Guard. After starting a family, he moved them to Atlanta to work for AT&T and Western Electric, where he remained throughout his career, including 10 years in Hollister, California.

He was a master woodworker and craftsman, and spent his free time learning new trades like stained glass-making, cooking, and gardening. He took pride in his work and craftsmanship, even when no one was watching.

His children remember him for being a great father who embodied work ethic and sacrifice, taught them about the sometimes hard ways of life, but who was also not afraid to show affection or his great sense of humor. His grandchildren remember him for enriching their lives with homemade toys, time spent outdoors in nature, and of course, his 1991 red Toyota pickup truck which is still in impeccable condition.

He was vibrant, gregarious, sharp, witty, and always ready to lend someone a helping hand.

He is survived by his wife Sue Ann Passman, his three children: Lori Markley (Paul), John Passman, and Philip Passman (Julie), and his seven grandchildren: Scott Markley, Jena Markley, Shannon Markley May, Jack Passman, Zoe Passman, Ian Passman, and Emmy Passman; and one sister, Evelyn Loveday.

The immediate family will honor Mr. Passman with a private celebration of life at a later date.
