Jory Jean Bricker

June 21, 1953 - February 27, 2022

With great sadness we announce that on February 27, 2022, due to natural causes, Jory Jean Bricker departed from this world.

Jory was a wonderful, electric woman with a heart and force unmatched in this world. She poured her love into her children and grandchildren, and her kindness upon all who crossed her path. A determined soul, born to live life her way, possessing her own unique rose-colored glasses. She lived for being around family, children, laughter, animals (especially cats), any body of water, music, good movies, shopping, travel, flowers, gardening, creativity, inventions, pursuit of adventure, good times and how to discover happiness.

Jory was born on June 21, 1953, in Chicago, IL, the eldest of four, to Donald and Patricia Melone. As she would always proclaim, she was born from "good stock." After a few moves, her family settled in a home they built in Downers Grove, IL. There she had a wonderful childhood, calling out to play with friends in the neighborhood, counting sweet-tarts with her sister, finding silver dollars, and enjoying many fun family gatherings.

In high school, her family relocated to Vero Beach, Florida. There she enjoyed going to Firehouse parties, treasure hunting with her sister, driving her Rambler, and finding her future husband. At the young age of 18, she married Randy Bricker. By the time she was 21, she was already an enthusiastic mother of 3.

Jory loved being a mom, doted upon her children, adored dressing them alike, taking them everywhere, showing the world her glorious creations. She even sought a profession teaching young children, in order that she may bring her children to work with her.

Her and her family later moved to Marietta, GA. There she continued raising her children and teaching at Shreiner Academy. Jory was inspired by creativity and enjoyed soaring to new heights. Combining the two, she achieved obtaining her pilot's license and established her first business, Air Birthday. Her children were her first clientele and enjoyed birthday views from the sky. She thrived on thinking of new inventions, such as a talking globe, and encouraged not just her children, but all children to think outside of the box.

As her children grew, Jory instilled upon them a sense of wonder, adventure, independence, and above all, love. She took them on nature walks, spent many a day "shooting the hooch", having picnics, picking berries to make pie, taking them to new places, making them read and do book reports, instilled fondness of spending holidays with family, and allowed them to explore the world for themselves. Many neighborhood children adored spending time with her as well, as with Miss Jory, there was always something exciting around the corner. She inspired a belief in all of us that if we could dream it, we could be or do it.

While she cherished her family and loved being a Mom, Jory was born to have a path of her own. She also had a stubbornness/determination that at times could be commendable or infuriating. As her children became teenagers, her quest for adventure blossomed. She divorced Randy, returned back to Florida, purchased a home, and settled down with a new partner, John Wall. Together, they enjoyed music, soaking in the hot tub, starting a garden, having a dog named Fred, going to beaches, and seeking good times.

Eventually Jory retired back in Georgia with John to her final home near Lake Allatoona. There she enjoyed having a boat, swimming pool, hot tub, rose bushes (which she planted and named for those she loved), and adopting and caring for many cats. She loved watching her children grow, traveling, and becoming a Grandma. Some of her highlights in life were visiting her daughter Natalie in Paris, attending her son Jeff's wedding, attending her daughter Amy's graduation from law school and then wedding in Mexico, and above all welcoming her grandchildren into the world. In her last chapter of life, she relished her time with her grandkids: doing art projects, going on fun adventures, and taking them to museums and movies.

Jory was a mother of three, and grandmother of four, but cherished all new babies. She loved sharing being a grandmother with her sister Donna, and always had a gift ready for any new baby she heard was being born. Her home was filled with pictures of her family, paintings from her mother, and of course, with her newfound motherhood, cats.

This is merely a trace of an outline of Jory's life. There are not enough words for the millions of memories she created and cherished. Nor is there enough room to tell the story of the beauty of her. Now, her life will be carried to the next from the memories she created with us all. May the loving moments she made with you be carried in your breath as you speak of her to the ones you love. For life is but a breath driving your heart, it is there she will now be as we remember her.

Jory is survived by her son Jeffrey Bricker, his wife Carrie Bricker, their children Layton and Grayson Bricker, her daughter Amy Bricker, her husband Michael Lee, their children Sophie and Parker Lee, her daughter Natalie Bricker, and her siblings Donna Corper, Daniel Melone, and Molly Melone.

This week we will be having a private cremation ceremony, where we will fittingly scatter her ashes from the sky into the lake. We will be scheduling a larger Celebration of Jory's Life around her birthday in June.
