Joseph Stephen Hughes was a loving father, devoted husband, and genuine friend. He went to be with Jesus on Thursday, April 17, 2025 in Marietta, Georgia. Steve was born on April 13, 1951 in Asheboro, North Carolina to Hazel and Dawson Hughes. He was the youngest of four children. He married Nan Hughes on January 22, 1972. Steve served in the United States Army, was a member of the American Legion, the Masons, and Marietta Lions Club. He was also a devoted member of East Cobb United Methodist Church and a member of the best friend group any man could ever ask for, the CHEERS group! He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nan Hughes, daughters Paige Hughes and Amy Hughes, brother Don Hughes, sister Mary Qualls, brother Harry Hughes, 4 nephews, and 6 nieces. A memorial service will be held at EaSt Cobb United Methodist Church at 3:00 on Saturday, April 26, 2025. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ECUMC Legacy Fund.
