Julie Peacock, 75, of Marietta passed away at home on Friday 12/9/2022 after a long battle with metastatic breast cancer.

Julie was born on April 21, 1947 to Tom and Geneva Clanton in Tulsa, OK.  Growing up in the Tulsa suburb of Jenks, OK, Julie was a gregarious and active child.  She was always participating in something from baton twirling as a majorette, playing basketball, acting in school plays to barrel racing and rodeo events, all while balancing chores and responsibilities on the family's farm.

After graduating from Jenks High School in 1966, she went on to the University of Oklahoma on a Rodeo scholarship.  She decided the world was a much bigger place she wanted to see so she left OU and went to work as a Stewardess for Eastern Airlines in 1967.  It was while working a trip from St. Louis to Miami in 1968 that she met a dashing young pilot named Jerry.  She and Jerry wed in 1970 and she embarked on a journey of adventure and fun, full of love and laughter, with her best friend.

Julie moved on from the airline with the arrival of her first child – a daughter, quiet but full of charm and grace and exceptional overall.  She volunteered with the Eastern Pilots' Wives and she had her second child – a son who, though also exceptional, kept her on her toes with his inquisitiveness and obsession with figuring out all things mechanical from the time he could walk.  She pursued some of her many interests in cake decorating and floral arrangement and doted on her two exceptional children.  She was a Room Mother and always involved at their schools…. at least as long as the exceptional children wanted and then she participated a bit more behind the scenes.

As her children got older and became more independent, she took the opportunity to start a new challenge and she became a licensed Realtor in 1985.  That sparked a career that spanned 35 years, garnering many accolades and recognition.  She loved working in real estate and found satisfaction in helping people get into a home they loved.

Her talents included more than real estate.  From cake decorating, floral arrangement, anything with a thread or yarn, cooking and entertaining to being a devoted wife, amazing mother, loving big sister and a loyal friend, she excelled at everything she did.  Except for maybe Pottery on the Wheel.  She didn't care much for that but did enjoy the time spent with her daughter and loved the conversation and people she met in the class.

She was larger than life and you definitely knew when she was in the room. She loved her family fiercely and was kind, generous and compassionate. She was unselfish to a fault, often neglecting the needs of herself for the needs and well-being of her family and friends.  She was always up for just about anything, quick with a laugh and always "mothering" people – whether they wanted it or not.

Julie fought a valiant fight against cancer for 12 years with grace and never lost her sense of humor.  She was most certainly one of a kind.  She will never be forgotten but forever remembered and missed by all who were fortunate to know her.

Julie is preceded in death by her brother, Greg, her father, Tom, her mother, Geneva, and her grand-dog, Annabel.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jerold, her children, Jill and Jer, her sisters, Christy and Cindy, brother, Grady, five beloved nieces, grand-nephew and a host of long-time friends.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, December 16, 2022, from 1:00pm-3:00pm at Marietta Funeral Home. The memorial service will be held on the same day, immediately following the visitation at 3:00PM.
