Katherine Lewis Brown, aged 84, a longtime resident of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on March 20, 2025.

Katherine, born on March 08, 1941, in Stark, Florida, grew up in Eridu and graduated from Taylor County High School. She was active in academic and civic organizations, including serving as President of her local 4-H and being a member of the National Beta Club. At the age of 17, she attended Florida State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1962.

Katherine devoted 30 years to educating students at the middle and high school levels in both Florida and Georgia. During her early teaching years in Florida, she met and married Bill Brown, who was stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base. After Bill's discharge, they moved to Marietta, Georgia, where they raised their children while Bill worked at Lockheed Martin Corporation. Katherine continued her teaching career, first at Osborne Middle School, then at Osborne Junior High School and North Cobb High School, where she found joy in guiding and nurturing students. Most of her career was spent in the Cobb County School System, where she was honored as North Cobb High School's Teacher of the Year in 1992-1993. A passionate reader, Katherine loved classical literature and was a talented seamstress, oil painter, greeting card maker, and devoted FSU football fan. She and Bill traveled to over 40 countries together, embarking on many remarkable journeys. Katherine was a member of First Baptist Church in Woodstock, Georgia, participated in the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl, and was a long-time member of Alpha Delta Kappa, an international honorary organization for women educators.

Katherine is survived by her daughter, Stacy Brown (Dustin); son, Ashley Brown (David); sister, Helen Lightcap (Patrick); and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Brown; parents, Dennett B. Lewis, Sr. and Annie V. Lewis; brothers, Arthur Lewis and Dennett B. Lewis, Jr.; and her beloved feline companion, Boots. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, April 03, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Marietta Funeral Home. She and her husband will be interred together at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
