Kenneth Gentry, 58, of Dallas, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, December 14, 2022 in the chapel of Marietta Funeral home with Rev. Wallace Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in the Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Gentry worked in law enforcement for many years, he was Chief of Police in Ideal, GA, a Police Officer for the cities of Woodstock, Dallas and Euharlee. He served, as Marshall for Paulding County. He was a calming presence, while working as a police officer, he didn't abuse his power. Kenneth had many interests, he loved hand radios, was a car enthusiast, played the piano and guitar. He was often called Dr. Dolittle because animals loved him. He Loved spending time with his son, family and friends. The last 11 years he had numerous health problems and he fought every day to be healthy for his family. Family meant everything to him.
Mr. Gentry is survived by his wife, Tamara (Tammy) Gentry; son, Robert (Robby) Clayton Gentry; mother, Dorothy Dove Gentry; brother and sister-in-law, Donald Keith Gentry, Sr., and Joy S. Gentry; Nephews; Donald Keith Gentry, Jr., James Kenneth Gentry and Samuel Charles Ottosen; niece, Abigail (Abbey) Grace Ottosen; brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, Charles (Chuck) Thomas Ottosen and Michelle Rene (Fast) Ottosen; grand-nephew, Rush Alton Gentry; grand-niece, Kaidence Elise Gentry; several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5:30pm -7:30pm at Marietta Funeral Home. A reception will be held from 11:30am – 2:00pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Kidney Foundation at https://www.kidneyfund.org or the American Diabetes Association at https://diabetes.org
