Lary Hoyt Staton I passed away on April 27, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, He was 83 years old.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt and Florine Staton of Acworth, and his son, Larry Hoyt Staton II of Marietta

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Valerie Staton of Marietta; his son, Billy Staton of Forsyth; his daughter, Debbie Law and husband Terry Law of Acworth; and his son, Tony Staton of Canton.

He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Olivia, Hannah, TJ. Brianna, and Christina, and his beloved great-grandchildren, Ryker, Riverleigh, James, and Adelyn —all of whom carry forward his legacy of love and resilience.

Larry proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

Larry worked for Southern Bell / BellSouth / AT&T, for over 40 years, where he was known for his strong work ethic, dedication, and quiet integrity. He believed deeply in providing for his family and did so with steady strength and unwavering commitment.

In his younger years, he could often be found at Shaw Park, coaching his children in football, baseball, and basketball. Whether on the sidelines, in the dugout, or on the court, he was always present - encouraging, teaching, guiding, and cheering them on. He wasn't just a coach; he was a constant example of commitment and love.

Outside of work, Larry shared a special passion for geocaching with his wife. Together they spent many happy years exploring, discovering, traveling, and enjoying life's simple adventures side by side.

In recent years, one of his greatest joys was spending time with his great-grandchildren. Before his illness, he treasured those moments - laughing, visiting, and simply being together. He took pride in watching his family grow, and nothing meant more to him than seeing the generations gathered around him.

He will be remembered as a wonderful man - steady, caring, dependable, and always present for his family. His life was a gift to all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the stories shared. The lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely.

A memorial service at Veterans Memorial Park in Canton, Georgia, will be planned in the near future.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor his memory by spending time with loved ones and appreciating the simple joys in life, just as he did.
