Lorraine Elinor
Tyson
Sep 9, 1929 — Jul 16, 2026
Acworth
Lorraine Elinor "Sadie" Kinder Tyson, age 96, of Acworth, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 16, 2026. Known to family and friends for much of her life as "Sadie," she was a woman of faith, kindness, and genuine love for people.
Born in Bay Shore, Suffolk County, New York, on September 9, 1929, Lorraine was the beloved daughter of Herman and Ethel Kinder.
Sadie's faith was the foundation of her life. She faithfully volunteered through Transfiguration Catholic Church at the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store, where she gave generously of her time in service to others. She was also active in the church's Respect for Life ministry. The friendships she formed with fellow volunteers and the satisfaction she found in helping the community were among her greatest joys.
Sadie found her life's passion in the bowling business. She met her husband while bowling and went on to build a 30-year career working in and managing bowling centers in Marietta, Conyers, and the Greater Atlanta area for Sports Arena Incorporated and AMF. She loved the work, but even more, she loved the people. She cherished the friendships she built with employees, bowlers, the youth she taught, and everyone she met along the way.
Sadie also served for several years through the Kiwanis Club in Marietta and Conyers, Georgia, focusing on helping her communities. After retiring from AMF, she found her way back into the business world, working for Macy's and Sears, continuing to make new friends. She was loyal to and truly loved the salon she visited for more than 40 years and the people there became another family to her. Her favorite restaurants also held a special place in her heart, and she treasured the staff who always took such wonderful care of her and her friends. She was so proud to be Planet Fitness's oldest member. They even made her part of the staff.
She learned from her father, Herman, that keeping in touch was a must, and she faithfully lived by that lesson. Whether celebrating good news, offering encouragement during difficult times, or simply checking in, she had a remarkable way of making people feel remembered and valued. If Sadie asked how you were doing, she truly wanted to know.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Tyson, and her son, Tim Tyson.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her daughter, Diane Moss, and son-in-law, Robin Moss; her daughter-in-law, Maureen Tyson; her grandchildren, Mary Beth and Colby O'Connor, Matthew Tyson, Sean Tyson, Lauren and Justin Butcher, and Cory and Caitlin Grimsley; and her treasured great-granddaughters, Gracie Grimsley and Clara Lorraine Grimsley, whose middle name proudly honors her great-grandmother's legacy.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lorraine's life during visitation on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Marietta Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Transfiguration Catholic Church.
Sadie's family finds comfort in knowing she has been welcomed into the loving arms of her Savior and joyfully reunited with Robert, Tim, her mom and dad, and all those who have gone before her. Her life was a testament to faith, compassion, generosity, and the simple joy of caring for others. Though she will be deeply missed, the conversations she shared, the friendships she nurtured, and the love she gave so freely will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her forever.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The St. Vincent De Paul Society or Shriners Hospital for Children.
