Malissa Joy Butler was born on April 17, 1989, to Jennifer and Martin Butler in Cleveland, Ohio. She lived in Cleveland for most of her life, up until her late teens when she then moved to Georgia with her mom and older sister, Jessica. She attended grade school in Cleveland, but was determined to further her education in Georgia.

Although she was diagnosed with diabetes as a young child, she never let it defeat her in any way. She carried on with life through the ups and the downs with a smile and sweet, child-like voice. To have known her was a blessing. She enjoyed painting and praying, which helped keep her spirits high in times when life seemed to be too much.

She was escorted by angels on August 7, 2022, where she was reunited with both of her parents, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her beloved sisters; Jessica and Andrea, grandmother; Precious, uncles; Wayne Sr. and Hughie, cousins; Aaron, Wayne Jr., and Malcolm, niece; Azrael, and three nephews; Nisaiah, Jalen, and Quentin III. She is also survived by a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins in Ohio, Jamaica, and Canada.
