Merl Fay Hallford, age 93, left on June 11, 2022 to be with his heavenly Father. He was born in Red Level, AL on April 10, 1929 to the late Jay Robert Hallford and Lena Dell Hallford (Martin).
Along with his parents, Merl is preceded in death by nine siblings. He has one living brother, Norman, and his wife, Jo, from Peachtree City, Ga.
Merl is survived by his wife, Pamela J. Hallford and three sons; Steven, Billy, and Jeffrey Salyers. Merl was a proud PaPa to his seven grandchildren and his four great-grandchildren. Merl was a twin and his twin brother, Earl, passed away on the same day (June 11) in 2019. His extended family of aunts and nephews will miss him.
Merl served as a corporal in the Army until 1952. After leaving the Army, his first job was running a soda fountain. He went on to managing the Martin Theatres throughout the southeast. He helped run J.W. Thomas Funeral Home in Calhoun,Ga. when the owner had to be away. That was Merl! Then one day, Earl called him, wanting him to come to Marietta to start a locksmith business. Merl was a Mason and was very active in the Lion's Club, as well. He was also a scoutmaster for a short while.
He will be truly missed!

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or The Shriner's Hospital for Children .

The family will be receiving visitors at Marietta Funeral Home on Friday, June 17, 2022 from 10:00AM-12:00PM.

The funeral service will be held in the Marietta Funeral Home chapel on Friday, June 17, 2022 at 12:00PM with burial immediately following at Georgia National Cemetery.
