MAJ Michael (Mike) Jason Daly, son of the late John Charles and Gloria Ann (Carroll) Daly, was born on August 25, 1971, in Henrico County, VA.

While attending the University of Virginia where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Science, Michael was commissioned as an Army Reserve second lieutenant through the R.O.T.C. program.

It was also during his university tenure that Michael came to faith in Jesus Christ and became a participant in New Generation Campus Ministries. His involvement with this organization led him to relocate to Atlanta, GA in 1995 as a founding member of a new church.

Michael worked in the IT field where he distinguished himself as a software systems engineer.

After the 9/11 attacks, he was mobilized and deployed to the FORSCOM Augmentation Unit based at Ft. McPherson. Michael was promoted to the rank of Major in 2008 and holds several awards and decorations, including the Army Achievement Medal (Oak Leaf Cluster).

Mike is remembered as a faithful friend whose commitment and kindness could be relied upon. His sense of humor was a treasure, and his jokes and spot-on impersonations will be missed; Mike's desire to 'reach out' (as he often said) led him to become an advocate for the unhoused and marginalized communities within the metro-Atlanta area.

Mike loved his family, and his greatest joy by far was being the father of Nicholas, Hylah, and Hannah.

Michael is survived by his three children; his brother Tom Daly; uncles William Daly and Robert Carroll; aunts Karen Crawley, Linda Matthews, and Patty Paramore; and several cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 1:00pm at Marietta Funeral Home. The family will receive friends and visitors for one hour prior to the service.
