Obituary

Michael "Mike" Reynolds, 78, of Smyrna, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2020.  A Celebration of life service will be held at Eastside Baptist Church on Sunday, February 2 at 2:00pm with Dr. Randy Cheek officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church from 1:15 to 2:00 prior to the service.

Mr. Reynolds was born in North Carolina as one of three sons to a U.S. Army Chaplain Lt. Col.  He lived in Germany, Japan, and many places in the United States.  Mike served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1966 with one year in Korea.  After completing his 3 years in the Army, he continued the same job as a civilian teaching electronics.  Mike graduated from the University of Alabama and worked for the city of Huntsville and the Huntsville Chamber of Commerce before moving to Atlanta to work for the United States Chamber of Commerce.  In 1986 he began his own business which allowed his tent ministry to flourish.  A favorite ministry was the Home Stay Program for Japanese Students and later discipling younger men, some of whom lived in Japan.  Many Home Stay students have become Christians due to this program.  He served as a member of the board of directors for Second Level, Inc.  Second Level is an Internet based ministry to disciple Japanese Christians and to train and recruit others to do the same.

Mike is preceded by his parents, Lt. Col. Michael E. Reynolds, and Willie C. Levinson Reynolds; and grandparents, Louis and Golda Levinson.  He is survived by his wife, Helen Reynolds; daughter, Andrea (David) Poffenberger; grandchildren, Austin, Josiah, Ashlyn, and Lyra; brothers, Ralph Reynolds, and David (Faye) Reynolds; as well as many cousins in North Carolina, California and Florida.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Second Level Ministries, 2841 Greystone Ln. Atlanta, GA 30341.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.mariettafuneralhome.org
