Neal "Papa" Lawrence, 84, of Kennesaw, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 after a brief battle with cancer.  He went peacefully surrounded by his loving family.  A funeral service will be held at 3pm on Friday, October 20 at Marietta Funeral Home, with Rev. Jeff Standridge officiating.

Neal served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps.  After his service he went on to work at Lockheed Martin where he retired.  He was a member of the American Legion, Post 29.  In his spare time he loved to play Santa for kids at Christmas.

Neal is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jane "Memaw" Lawrence; children, Dana Lawrence Godfrey, and Julie Lawrence Jones (Jay); grandchildren, Nicole Mundin (Don), Brittany Acree, Lexi Jones, and Patrick Jones; 7 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Pepper.  He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings; and daughter, Donna Lawrence.
