Nicholas Donald Philp

February 25, 1947 – June 21, 2021

Nick was born on Staten Island New York as part of the baby boomer era.  He had 3 siblings; Nadine, Eloise and Peter, Parents were Nicholas C and Kathleen Philp.  My father resided in the West Brighton neighborhood on the northern part of the island, whereas a young boy he started a paper route and continued that until his high school years.  He graduated from Curtis High School in the spring of 1965, where he was part of the golf team that won the city championships.  After high school graduation Nick started his employment with Cities Service Company and was then drafted into the Military in November of 1966 and honorably discharged November of 1968, serving his country for 2 years active duty in the Army stationed in Korea as a cook.  When returning home from service he worked helping his dad delivering White Rock soda and continuing his employment with Cities Service Company in the accounting department; additionally, he was a volunteer fire fighter on the Staten Island Ladder Company 79.   On September 21, 1969 he married a beautiful woman name Cathleen Felicciardi where they resided-on Staten Island where their daughter Denise Philp was born in 1970; they stayed on Staten Island for a few years then relocated with Cities Service to Tulsa Oklahoma, where their son Nicholas was born in 1974.  He graduated Tulsa University in 1980.  In August of 1986 he packed up his family and relocated again to Marietta Ga.  Nick and his family resided in Marietta until his passing this past Monday June 21, 2021; he is succeeded by his wife Cathleen and his children Denise and spouse Dan, Nicholas and spouse Katherine, along with his two grandsons Sheldon Gabriel Philp and Lance Tyler Philp.    Nick had a few passions, golf, and cooking.  He loved good Scotch and always enjoyed a nice 2 fingers of a good Speyside with an ice cube.  Family was the most important thing to my dad; he was always there for his kids and would make anything happen for us all.  He worked hard and probably would be considered a work-acholic.  He coached soccer for his son for several years in Oklahoma and was always active with his daughter's dance recitals.  Nick loved the Catholic church and was an active member at Saint Mary's church in Tulsa and Saint Ann's church in Marietta Ga.   If you speak to anyone that knew him, they all say the same thing, Nick was a great guy.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.   In lieu of flowers that a consideration of a donation to the following would be appreciated. https://mssociety.donordrive.com/campaign/Nick-Philp
