Ozell Stroup McKenna Tinsley, 88, passed from this Earth on Friday, September 27, 2024, with her beloved daughter and caregiver, Cheryl Ann McKenna by her side, along with her beloved daughter, Retha, and her Maltese dog, Honey. She passed in her sleep at home, as was a longtime hope. She was a lifetime resident of East Cobb, and the twin of her sister, Dell. Her other siblings were the late Al, Narvel, Dan, and Donald. Her parents were the late Roy and Arabee Stroup. She has two surviving daughters, Retha McVey Cobb and Cheryl Ann McKenna. She lost the love of her life, Harry McKenna, in 1992. She is also survived by Gene Tinsley, her husband for 25 years, a grandson, Dusty Cobb, and granddaughter, Heather Gilreath. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, including Mark Stroup, whom she called "the son she never had".

Ozell was a joyous woman who brought love and laughter to everyone she knew. She was a master gardener, and an expert on azaleas and roses. She was always a generous soul with great love and compassion for all of those she encountered who were in need. Over the years, she had two beloved poodles, Ollie and Baby, a cat, Precious, and finally, her Honey. They gave her great joy. She was also a lover of the Atlanta Braves.

Ozell grew up in East Cobb, the daughter of sharecroppers, with much of her childhood on the Tritt Plantation. She attended the only school in the area, Mount Bethel. After a brief marriage to Trenton McVey, she married Harry McKenna, a Sergeant in the Air Force, and the love of her life, who died in 1992 at the age of 61 from heart disease. After 4 years, after being stationed in Bermuda and Montana, he left military service and they returned to her beloved East Cobb, where she lived next door to her parents for the rest of their lives, where she was a caregiver until they passed.

Ozell was the most remarkable woman, always known for her beauty, kindness, and her ability to generate laughter and joy. She "never met a stranger". She will be sorely missed. She is in Heaven now, with her Lord and all of those she loved and lost. Our world is a much poorer place without her in it, but her spirit survives.
