Patrick Dennis Tobin, 72, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Patrick was born on March 27, 1954, in Faribault, Minnesota, to William and Norma Tobin. He spent his early years in Faribault - birthplace of the Tilt-A-Whirl, before the family made their way to Georgia in January of 1963. He attended St. Pius X Catholic High School in Atlanta, GA, where he graduated in 1972.

Patrick's work ethic was evident throughout his career. He began his professional life repairing roads and bridges before joining Poultie Construction to learn the trade. He went on to work for Tobin Properties until 1980, when he answered a higher calling and joined the Cobb County Fire Department, a career that would define much of his life. Even during his years with Cobb Fire, Patrick continued to work part-time in construction with S&S Remodeling and Tieman Construction. He served the community with pride for 30 years, retiring in 2010.

On June 27, 1979, Patrick married the love of his life, Cheryll Lynn Welsh. Together they built a beautiful family, welcoming son Ryan William Tobin on August 16, 1981, and daughter Amanda Sue Tobin on September 8, 1983.

Patrick was, above all else, a family man. He was an extraordinary husband, father, uncle, and grandfather, known lovingly to his grandchildren as Chief. He never needed recognition or thanks for the countless ways he showed up for the people in his life. Whether he was sitting front-row at a sporting event or recital, being the secret weapon on a trivia team, helping a neighbor with their trashcans, or dropping everything to help with a task, Patrick's love was always expressed through action.

He had a gift for collecting - model cars, toy airplanes, books, antiques, and the wonderfully unexpected. If something caught his eye on the side of the road, whether a piece of furniture, a stop sign, or a stray 8-ball it was coming home with him. Each piece held its own story, just as he did.

Patrick knew how to light up a room. His humor was legendary, and his storytelling - whether recounting childhood adventures, youthful antics with friends, or tales from the firehouse - could keep anyone entertained for hours. He never met a stranger, and even as Alzheimer's slowly changed so much of who he was, his warmth never left him. He would still stop to chat with someone he'd never met or reach something off a high shelf for a fellow shopper without a second thought. His laugh was infectious and his joy for life was something everyone around him felt.

One of Patrick's greatest joys was becoming a grandfather. He adored Grayson, Sutton, and Emery and would tell anyone who would listen just how remarkable they were. He also had a deep love for animals, if there was a dog nearby, he was already reaching down to pet it.

Patrick is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryll Tobin; his son, Ryan Tobin (Emily); his daughter, Amanda Boudreau (Ryan); his grandchildren, Grayson Patrick Boudreau, Sutton Quinn Tobin, and Emery Ryan Boudreau; his siblings Theresa Gassett and Mike Tobin; Brothers-in-law Michael Welsh and Bob Barkett; Sisters-in-Law Raye Tobin, Kim Welsh, and Carol Barkett; and a wonderful extended family of nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives he touched deeply.

Patrick will be remembered by all who knew him as someone who always put others before himself - a man whose love showed up quietly, consistently, and without condition. His family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all who have reached out and offered support during these difficult months. The family is deeply grateful to the staff at Town Square, whose engaging programs brought joy and purpose to Patrick's days, and to the team at Delmar Gardens Memory Care, who provided him with safety, compassion, and unwavering support during the final months of his life. A special thank you to Gail Tate, Kathy Rice, Mike and Kim Welsh and their children, Allison Callahan, The Hunt Family, Sean Bogus, and Jamie Baker whose kindness meant more than words can express.
