Paul D. Brooks was born on January 9, 1946. He passed away peacefully at his home in Marietta, Georgia on August 19, 2020 surrounded by his family.
Paul grew up in Blue Rapids, Kansas and joined the Marine Corps during his senior year in high school. Directly after graduating from high school, he went to Camp Pendleton for basic training. He proudly served his country for a tour of duty in Da Nang, Viet Nam, returning to serve as a guard in Camp Pendleton until his discharge.
He attended technical college in California and spent the rest of his career as a computer analyst working for TSW/ INDUS Intl. in Atlanta, Georgia
He married Ophie Hunt Mulkey on March 4, 1988. They lived happily in Marietta, Georgia for 32 years until his passing. He was very active at Crossview Church where he spent numerous hours volunteering for their programs. He enjoyed drawing pictures, woodworking, taking care of the lawn and gardening. He enjoyed many hours with his grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, Marquis Earle Brooks and Jean C. Painter Brooks, his stepson, Kevin Mulkey, and brother-in-law, Donald Atkinson, he is survived by his wife, Ophie Mulkey Brooks, his children, Christi Brooks Jones (Tony), Paul D.(Tina) Brooks, II , Phillip (Stephanie) Mulkey. And daughter-in-law, Sandra Mulkey Mildner. His grandchildren, Amanda Brooks, Hadassah (Ryan) Jones, Hanna Jones (James) , Seth (Becky) Mulkey, Mallory (Josh) Young, Kyle Mulkey, and Allie Mulkey. Great grandchildren, Kyra Mulkey, Scarlett Mulkey, Elliott Young, Emerson Young, Luna Jones Spring, Ava Sproul, Christian Benson, and Amira Benson. His siblings, brother, John Phillip (Donna) Brooks, sisters, Saundra (Mark) Werth, Claudia Atkinson and Ruth (Gary) Day, brother in law, Douglas (Brenda) Hunt, sisters in law, Patsy Bennett (Ed McLeod), Rebecca "Reesie" (Gary) Leming. Lifelong friend, William "Billy" Barrington. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation for Mr. Brooks will be from 4:00PM to 8:00PM on Monday, August 24, 2020 at Marietta Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at 12:00PM with a private graveside service immediately following at Georgia National Cemetery.
