Rickie ("Rick") Harrelson was the only child of Adolphus L. Harrelson (of Ocean Isle Beach, NC) and Van Dora Thomas (of Gainesville, GA).  He was born July 16, 1954 and lived most of his younger life in the Carolinas and Georgia, and later in Virginia during his teens and younger married life.  Rick was preceded in death by both his father and mother.

He is survived by the love of his life, Pat B. Harrelson, who he married on March 16, 1973.  They were happily married for 47 years.  Rick is also survived by his two sons, Jason N. Harrelson of Marietta, GA and Jeremy D. Harrelson (Jenna and step-granddaughter Mia Sharp) who reside in Highland, NY.  Rick was also "Pop-Paw" to his granddaughter, Kylie A. Harrelson, of Marietta, GA.

While being a quiet man, Rick left a huge impact on all those he met.  He was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church and served tirelessly in their Kitchen Ministry.  Rick also helped to lead the Community Outreach Ministry which fed many hungry children and families in the local communities.  Rick also helped his Church by serving on the Audio / Visual Team and operated one of the cameras during service time.  He was always faithful, willing, and able to do whatever was needed to promote the Kingdom of God.

Rick was a third-generation upholsterer.  At the age of 13, he learned the trade from his grandfather, and it was something that served him well for most of his life.  Those who saw his work agreed that he was one of the best in his field in the Atlanta area.  Rick also worked in the nondestructive (NDE) testing industry for about ten years and it was this business which brought the family to the Marietta, GA area.  Rick had worked in many nuclear power plants in Virginia and Illinois in the NDE industry; but it was the upholstery trade that always drew him back to his first love.

On April 2, 2020, after fighting the good fight, Rick finished his course on this earth and rested in his Savior's arms.  We have full assurance of this as he had made Jesus the Lord of his life as a teenager and was always faithful to his Lord and Savior.  There is no doubt that he is enjoying communion with all those who have gone ahead but mostly his Lord.  It brings us great joy to know that he is more fully alive today than he ever was here on earth; and we will see him again soon.

Due to current restrictions, no funeral service will be held at this time.  There will be a memorial service held at Eastwood Baptist Church as soon as the ban on congregating has been lifted.  The memorial service date and time will be announced later.
