Ronald Swanson of Alpharetta, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on October 2, 2022, at the age of 84. Born to Apaschal and Annabelle Swanson, Ronald grew up in Marietta, Georgia. After graduating from McEachern High School, he joined the U.S. Navy and served in carrier aircraft squadrons during the height of the Cold War. Ronald was married to Joan Allen for sixty-one years and raised two daughters, Rhonda and Nikki. After the Navy, Ronald worked for the City of Marietta as an electrical engineer followed by a long career as owner of Swanson Electric Company.
In his free time, Ronald influenced many lives by coaching girls' softball, basketball, and track teams. He loved hunting, fishing, and was a lifelong fan of the Atlanta Braves. He enjoyed working the land on his farm and tending honeybees. Ronald was also a proud Mason and Shriner.
Ronald is predeceased by his brothers Apaschal and Dwayne Swanson and his sister, Jeanette Minter. He is survived by his wife, Joan and his daughters Rhonda Smithwick and husband Joel, and Nikki Foster and husband, John. He has five grandchildren: Marie, Ronald, and James Smithwick, and Henry and Madison Foster. His remaining three siblings are Dwight Swanson married to Carolyn, Sandra Guy married to Jim, and Sarah Duvall married to Mike.
Ronald's memorial service will be held at Nikki Foster's home on November 23, 2022.
