Obituary

Ross Westlake, 59, died peacefully on March 27th, 2019 at home in Marietta, Georgia surrounded by loved ones.

Ross was born June 7, 1959 to Rogers and Grace Westlake in Wooster, Ohio. He grew up in a large loving family where his energetic spirit kept everyone on their toes. Graduating from Wooster High School, Ross took his quick and creative mind to Beloit College, studying philosophy and government, topics that engaged him throughout his life.

It was at Beloit College that he met the love of his life Cynthia Higgins. They married on June 24, 1984 and had two children, Austen and Skyler. The family lived in Wooster, Ohio where they owned Westlake Framing before moving to Georgia. There, Ross had a successful career in sales and marketing. A lifelong learner, Ross studied healthcare architecture and design at the Georgia Institute of Technology, earning a master's degree and developing research skills in evidence-based design.

Ross had a remarkable zest for life, enjoying scuba diving, travel, study, friends and family. Ross maintained deep connections and relationships across his lifespan and was a true friend to many.

Ross was predeceased by his parents and son Austen. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Cynthia, his son Skyler, and his siblings, Mark (Peggy), Betsy, Carol (Jody Bailey), and Grant, as well as nieces, nephews, and great nephews, all of whom will miss his shining light in our lives.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on April 13th at 1:30 PM at Unity North Atlanta Church, 4255 Sandy Plains Road Marietta, GA.

Ross requested to be cremated and his remains to be made part of a coral reef that will provide refuge and habitat to the ocean creatures with which he dived.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Eternal Reefs (P.O. Box 3811 Sarasota, FL 34230 In memory of Ross Westlake) or MD Anderson Cancer Center (gifts.mdanderson.org).   Online condolences maybe expressed at www.mariettafuneralhome.org
