Roxanna Marie "Connie" Norton Simpson, 69, of Atlanta, GA, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 14, 2019 in West Minster Commons Nursing Home in Atlanta after a long illness.   Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm Friday, March 22 in the chapel of Marietta Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 3:00 pm prior to the service at Marietta Funeral Home 915 Piedmont Rd., Marietta, GA  30066, 770.422.1234.   Interment will follow in N.E. Piney Grove Cemetery 3277 Post Oak Tritt Rd., Marietta, GA.

Connie was born February 20, 1950, N. Miami Beach, FL.  She attended Norland High School, N. Miami Beach, FL and moved to Marietta in 1966 with family.  Her first job, she was an employee of the new Hyatt Regency Hotel.   She was the Star Waitress of the "Side Walk Café" – she would entertain the "Entertainers" of the Atlanta shows while they waited for food and drink!  She loved to volunteer at hospitals, etc.., write poetry, designed games for religious groups to teach.  She was of the Baptist faith.  She will be missed by all.   Connie lives on in love, light and peace thru her two sons and family.

Survivors include her 2 sons, Michael (Vickki) Simpson, of Pompano Beach, FL and Christopher Simpson of Marietta; Grandchildren, Michael Simpson Jr., Zachary Simpson, Summer Simpson, and Shammi (Erika) Simpson; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Mathew, and Emily Simpson. mother, Annie Sullivan Norton Thurmond and stepfather, Benny Thurmond of Marietta; 3 sisters, Donna Cherie (James) Patterson of North Carolina, Dessie (Marty) Dockins of Canton, and Corissa Norton (Brett) McGee, of Cummings, GA; 3 brothers, Captain "Butch" Sampson R. Norton, Jr., of Crestview, FL,  Andrew "Andy" (Linda) Norton, of Woodstock, GA;  James "Jamie" Phillip Norton, USMC, retired of Marietta; 4 nieces, Angela Patterson, of Mebane, NC, Bridget Robbins of Mebane, NC, Tayla Mangus, of Marietta and Allie Norton, of Atlanta;  4 nephews, Travis Dockins, of Woodstock, Keith Patterson, of Mebane, NC, Tate Dockins, of Canton, Kai Jaxon Norton, of Cummings, GA; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

She was preceded in death by her father, Sampson Rothwell Norton, Sr.; two brothers, Thomas (Tom) Timothy Norton of Destin, FL and Theodore Alexander (Alex) Norton of Marietta, GA.
