Ruth Annette Ross Piper, lovingly known as "Cookie," passed away peacefully at home on May 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on December 5, 1950, to Leroy and Adelaide Ross.

Ruth was the devoted wife of Leroy Piper for 52 beautiful years. Their love was one of unwavering companionship, spending nearly everyday side by side. She was not only his wife, but also his closest confidant, greatest supporter, and best friend.

She was a deeply loving and dedicated mother to her son, Jody, who was truly the center of her world. Nothing brought Ruth greater joy than being "Granny" to her beloved granddaughter, Graycin Adelaide. The bond they shared was extraordinary — best friends, shopping partners, and inseparable companions whose love for one another was evident to everyone around them.

Ruth is survived by her brother, Tommy Ross and his wife Connie; her sister, Brenda Young; and many cherished nieces and nephews, including Sam Fortenberry, Thomas Ross (Sherri), Lisa Bryley, Melissa Ross Watson, LeAnn Hill, Teresa Ross, James Ross, George Ross, Leroy Ross, Sandra Ross, Frank Ross, and Victor Guerrero. She is also survived by her great-nephew, Holden Ross (Madeline) Grandkid; Lance Piper (Morgan)

She leaves behind her dear friend and caregiver, Sandra "Chick," whose love and support meant so much to her and the family. Ruth is also lovingly remembered by her daughter-in-law, Misty; Misty's children, Loghan, Lauren, Chance, Mackenzie, and Kooper, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Ruth will always be remembered for the fierce love she had for her family, especially her son and granddaughter, and for the unwavering devotion she showed her husband throughout their life together. She found joy in the simple things — shopping trips, breakfast outings at Cracker Barrel, dinners at Red Lobster, and making memories with the people she loved most. Even at Red Lobster, she was known for always ordering chicken.

Her kindness, loyalty, humor, and love will be deeply missed and forever carried in the hearts of all who knew her.
