Sarah Bray Underwood, 98, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024 after a brief illness.

Sarah was born on November 16, 1925 to Buddy and Elizabeth Bray in Rome, Georgia. She graduated from West Rome high school where she played snare drum in the marching band. She moved to Marietta, GA and worked at Bell Bomber Plant and the Veterans Administration in the 1940s. She met Edmond L. Underwood while working at the VA, and the two were married on January 17, 1948 in Marietta, Georgia. After a brief time living in Rome, Georgia, they settled in Marietta where they would raise their family. She was a devoted mother and follower of Christ, and was active in the lives of her children and at a number of local churches over her adult years.

She was preceded in death by son Kenneth E. Underwood and husband Edmond L. Underwood. She is survived by: son J. Wayne Underwood and his wife Lynn Underwood; son John B. Underwood, his wife Mitzi Underwood; and grandchildren Noah and Rachel Underwood.

A visitation will be held at Marietta Funeral Home on Thursday, September 12th, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. A brief graveside memorial service will be held at Greers Chapel Cemetery on Friday, September 13th at 11am.
